Andromeda Galaxy Species & Groups

The Fflong

The Fflong are a non-humanoid species native to the first planet in the Tylorian System, in the Alpha Quadrant of the Andromeda Galaxy. Their home planet is named Fflong, and is a Class-L planet. Fflong is roughly the size of Mars, and is a rocky planet with no moon. The Fflong are an amphibious species, which somewhat resemble a cross between a newt and a frog. The Fflong are bipedal, and can adapt themselves to breathe in an Earth or Tylorian atmosphere, with the aid of a misting device, similar to that worn by Benzites, which emits gases native to the Fflong atmosphere. The Fflong are somewhat short and stocky, and seldom grow beyond five feet tall.

Along with the Tylorians, the Fflong founded the Tylorian Republic. Together they comprise the two founding worlds of the Tylorian Republic. Fflong starships are best described as resembling a giant trilobite, a medium-dark red in color. Upon unification, Fflong starship design heavily influenced the look of the future Tylorian Stellar Guard ships, which adopted the red coloration, and use of curves and layers. Until the Tylorians made first contact with them, the Fflong had not encountered any alien species, or been offworld.

The Glight

The Glight are a non-humanoid species native to the Alpha Quadrant of the Andromeda Galaxy. The Glight are best described as giant butterflies of brilliant white and iridescent light. The Glight are extremely xenophobic and isolated. They almost never initiate contact with any alien species of their own accord. The Glight starships themselves also roughly resemble the form of a butterfly - an extremely angular and minimalist butterfly shape, with a central body hull of mirror-shiny chrome, and large wings of highly polished white. The Glight possess a level of technology substantially superior to that of the Tylorian Republic, but the true extent of their technological development is unknown. In these regards, the Glight are comparable to the Tholians of the Milky Way.

The Hunjiri

The Hunjiri are a humanoid species from the Alpha Quadrant of the Andromeda Galaxy. They are generally about the same height as humans, sometimes taller. Their skin is a medium gray color. Their home planet is Class-M, and is called Hunjirs. Generally, the ‘s’ in the planet’s name is silent, but there are certain dialects of the Hunjiri language that do pronounce the ‘s’ as part of the name. The Hunjiri are a member species of the former Tylorian Republic, and now the UFP in Andromeda. A Hunjiri delegation came aboard the U.S.S. Frontier, during the ship’s marathon first-contacts with the various member species of the Tylorian Republic. The Hunjiri lifespan is roughly the same as that of humans.

The Hyrii

The Hyrii are a non-humanoid species native to the Alpha Quadrant of the Andromeda Galaxy. The Hyrii roughly resemble an 8-foot tall three-legged harvester spider. The Hyrii are members of the former Tylorian Republic, now the UFP in Andromeda. The Hyrii largely keep to themselves, and are rarely seen on non-Hyrii worlds, unless it is for a diplomatic function. A Hyriian Ambassador visited the U.S.S. Frontier during its marathon first-contacts with the various member species of the Tylorian Republic.

The Steen

The Steen are a non-humanoid insectoid species native to the Beta Quadrant of the Andromeda Galaxy. The Steen look like a 7-foot tall praying mantis. The Steen are members of the former Tylorian Republic, now the UFP in Andromeda. A Steen Ambassador visited the U.S.S. Frontier during its marathon first-contacts with the various member species of the Tylorian Republic.

The Strake

The Strake are a humanoid species native to the Beta Quadrant of the Andromeda Galaxy. The Strake are a non-aligned race, and as such, are not a part of the Tylorian Republic. They are not hostile to the Republic, but are also not non-hostile. They look out for themselves. If they feel their interests are threatened, they will act accordingly. They are best described as ‘free agents’. They are largely traders and merchants. In this regard, they are comparable to the Orion Free Traders of the Milky Way. The Strake are the same height as humans, and have bright orange skin, with blue ‘tiger stripes’ that run down the length of both sides of their body. Their boxy, bi-level starships are distinctive, and instantly recognizable. The Strake have become frequent targets of Vralex raids.

The Stroth

The Stroth are a non-humanoid species native to the Alpha Quadrant of the Andromeda Galaxy. They are best described as looking very similar to the Rigellians of the Milky Way, but with red feathers covering their body, and a more pronounced green beak. The Stroth are members of the former Tylorian Republic, now the UFP in Andromeda. The Stroth were the newest additions to the Tylorian Republic, and as such, there wasn’t time to fully integrate the Stroth military into the Tylorian Stellar Guard, due to the war with the Vralex Nation, so the Stroth still operate many of their native military ships alongside the Tylorian Stellar Guard’s fleet. The Stroth starships are very distinctive and recognizable, as they are fairly large, and have a roughly cylindrical main hull, with a sizable wing mounted atop, at the center point, and curving down on both sides. The hull of their ships is bright red, and the top of the wings have a rainbow-colored feather pattern painted on the hull panels. A Stroth delegation visited the U.S.S. Frontier during its marathon first-contacts with the various member species of the Tylorian Republic.

The Uluvi

The Uluvi are a non-humanoid species native to the Alpha Quadrant of the Andromeda Galaxy. The Uluvi are about 5 feet tall, and have extremely smooth medium-gray skin, akin to that of a dolphin. The Uluvi are members of the former Tylorian Republic, now the UFP in Andromeda. An Uluvi delegation visited the U.S.S. Frontier during its marathon first-contacts with the various member species of the Tylorian Republic.

The Yunat

The Yunat are a non-humanoid insectoid species native to the Alpha Quadrant of the Andromeda Galaxy. The Yunat are best described as 5-foot tall bipedal wingless flies, medium to dark gray in color, with large red compound eyes. The Yunat are members of the former Tylorian Republic, now the UFP in Andromeda. A Yunat delegation visited the U.S.S. Frontier during its marathon first-contacts with the various member species of the Tylorian Republic.

The Zendawi

The Zendawi are a humanoid species native to the Alpha Quadrant of the Andromeda Galaxy. The Zendawi home planet is Class-M, but the dominant topography and climate is that of arid desert. The Zendawi themselves are usually 7 feet tall, and lanky in appearance. Their skin is very dark, and they wear loose white robes and cloth head coverings, to protect from the harsh sunlight and heat on their world. Most walk with tall wooden staffs, to help balance themselves in the sandy terrain. The Zendawi are members of the former Tylorian Republic, now the UFP in Andromeda. A Zendawi delegation visited the U.S.S. Frontier during its marathon first-contacts with the various member species of the Tylorian Republic. The Zendawi are one of the Republic’s member worlds that have been hit hard by constant Vralex raids.

The Lorendi

The Lorendi are a humanoid species native to the Alpha Quadrant of the Andromeda Galaxy. They are members of the former Tylorian Republic, now the UFP in Andromeda. A Lorendi delegation visited the U.S.S. Frontier during its marathon first-contacts with the various member species of the Tylorian Republic.

Gourant’s Traveling Waystation

Gourant’s Traveling Waystation is a large mobile space station, which travels the Alpha and Beta Quadrants of the Andromeda Galaxy. Any ship that wishes to do so, may dock with the station, and contract for repairs, refueling, or resupply, while its crew enjoys rest and relaxation aboard the station. The station is owned and operated by Gourant, a male Trophilyte. The station is completely neutral, so any who wish to, may visit and partake of its services. The U.S.S. Frontier encountered Gourant’s Traveling Waystation just as it entered the Loxxon Reach, in the Andromeda Galaxy’s Alpha Quadrant. It was here where Captain Nikolayev learned more about the Vralex from Gourant himself.

The Welcoming Committee

The Welcoming Committee is a multi-species mobile organization in the Andromeda Galaxy, comparable to the Tylorian Republic or the United Federation of Planets, only, as indicated above, it is mobile. It has no individual or specific base of operations or home planet. It is a large cluster of starships, each from and operated by a different alien species, linked together to form a single combined unit. It’s mission is to roam the galaxy, and seek out new alien species and life-forms to contact and learn from. It is in this manner that they not only explore, but also recruit new members to their group. It is not known exactly where the Welcoming Committee originated, nor to which quadrant they are native to. The U.S.S. Frontier encountered the Welcoming Committee while traversing the Loxxon Reach, in the Andromeda Galaxy’s Alpha Quadrant.
